It’s easy to use and it offers mentors and mentees an opportunity to reflect on their career and discuss the impact someone has had (at individual, team, discipline and company level). How does the
Career Path work?

1. Initiate a Conversation

The mentee and the mentor plan an agreed-upon date for their first discussion. This step is about showing up and empowering employees to take charge of their development.

2. Prepare

Next, both parties complete a predefined conversation template that will get the discussion going. Allows everyone to gets a clear view of what the focus should during their first conversation.

3. Discuss and set Objectives

Mentor and mentee define a set of expectations corresponding to defined points in the mentee’s progression. It assists in planning, guides decision making, and determines accountability.

4. Conversation Follow-up

Once the objectives are mutually agreed upon, the mentor and mentee will set up regular follow-up sessions tailored to their unique needs, seniority, and evolving circumstances. Each step of this process aims to optimize the experience and ensure maximum benefit for both parties.

Conversations Explained

Mentee and mentor preparation

Once the mentee and mentor agree on a date, they meet to discuss their first Conversation. To make things simple, both complete a predefined conversation template, to guide their first discussion. It helps get the discussion started in the right direction.

Core behaviours

This is the first section in the Conversation template. Based on the needs of each organization, the skills are predefined based on three to five primary, long-term areas of focus that impact the employee, the team, the discipline, and the company.

Looking back

The employees reflect on a certain period of time since their last Conversation with their mentor. They identify their key accomplishments related to the company’s culture and set goals. Having clear goals to follow highlights progress, increasing the business impact of their work.

Going forward

The mentee and mentor think about the upcoming period of time and identify the key contributions they plan on making and how the mentee is expected to contribute to the team, discipline and the company.
